My friends bought me the magnetic polish for my birthday and I found that the magnetic effect is most pronounced if a thicker coat is applied and the magnet is held above very wet polish.

Chicken Soup for the Broken Fingernailed.
I had a tear on the side of my nail today. It was really starting to annoy me but then I remembered a product I had seen on another nail blog that is supposed to magically fix broken nails. Not only that but I read reviews that this magical product actually works. So I took a trip over to my neighborhood Sally Beauty Supply and picked up some Orly Nail Rescue. You just paint the glue over the cracked nail and immediately dip it in the powder. Let it dry for 30 seconds or so and buff away the roughness. It ended up being a very good experience bacause I ended up not having to cut off all of my nails due to one break. Yay!
I had to trim my nails. It was a sad time.
